The Florida Supreme Court created the Office of the State Courts Administrator (OSCA) in 1972 to assist the chief justice with the administrative tasks and oversight necessary to operate Florida’s state courts system. In that capacity, OSCA prepares legislative budget requests for the judicial branch, collects and analyzes court-related data, coordinates court technology projects, manages purchasing and service contracts, trains and certifies court interpreters and mediators, and provides training for judges and court employees, among many other responsibilities.

OSCA is led by a state courts administrator, who works at the direction of the chief justice and the Court to support the mission of the judicial branch, which is to protect rights and liberties, uphold and interpret the law, and provide for the peaceful resolution of disputes. The state courts administrator also serves as the liaison between the judicial branch and the legislative and executive branches of government.

As an organization, OSCA follows a set of core values:

  • RESPECT - We treat everyone with dignity, courtesy, and respect.
  • INTEGRITY - We are honest and trustworthy, and our actions are consistent with our words.
  • INNOVATION - We anticipate future needs and develop and implement innovative solutions to organizational challenges.
  • FLEXIBILITY - We adapt to challenges to produce the best results and are flexible in responding to the needs and responsibilities of our workforce.
  • ACCOUNTABILITY - We are accountable to each other, the courts, and the public for efficiently using our resources.
  • EXCELLENCE - We demonstrate the highest level of quality, professionalism, and service in our work and conduct.
